ECS Construction Contract Law Associate, Linda Mbuli has created a milestone as the first LLB qualified appointment at our Johannesburg-based Head Office. Linda is working on special contract law and is currently assigned to the Eskom Project. “Making this client aware of how to administer and facilitate contracts as efficiently as possible is not only crucial for the betterment of the business, but for the country as a whole given the power supply challenges the nation is currently facing.”

Inclusive culture
Linda’s dissertation while studying for her Law Degree at the University of Pretoria was ‘Employment Equity towards Women in the Workplace’. Linda says that ECS certainly ascribes to this as a Level 1 B-BBEE 35% black women-owned company. “I’ve been welcomed onto this team in a way that validates me as a young woman in business. ECS is fully committed to transformation and development, constantly mentoring and empowering me to push ahead to reach my full potential.”
“To find work in a company like ECS where I can truly experience employment equity is an inspiration.”
Women in engineering
Another young woman who has made an impact at ECS since joining nearly a year ago, is Senior Proposals Manager, Lipalesa Nkhabu. She’s been pivotal in supporting the team to win and secure contracts at Eskom, Transnet and Framatome.

Having studied a BTech Civil Engineering, she says that being a woman in this field is interesting: “I feel I’ve found my niche and am fortunate to be learning continuously – from gaining a depth of understanding about various construction contracts, to interacting on-site with consultants from many different backgrounds.” Her role includes tenders, vendor registrations, submitting proposals and managing contracts around enquiries for NEC training. “The ECS team makes working in this sector a growth experience, and they’ve given me the opportunity to embark on various internal training courses.” She’s currently on the NEC 6-month Project Management Course and will achieve her certificate early in 2024.
Managing Director, Mile Sofijanic says that as a nimble, flexible, and forward-thinking business, ECS strives to create an engaging and inclusive environment. “We’re tapping into the talents of these two women while giving them the opportunity to grow by providing a 360° view of our landscape and as much exposure as possible to the sectors we work in.” ECS strives to be recognised as a fully empowered organisation that delivers the most effective professional construction contract law training and project management services in the engineering and construction environment.
